Brain Matters is a short-term research study looking at the effects of delivery method on healthy newborn infants. Participants must be 18 years or older and less than 36 weeks pregnant with their second child. Moms must be planning to deliver at UAMS with a planned c-section or a VBAC (vaginal birth after C-section).
There are two visits for this study. The first visit will take place around 36 weeks of pregnancy and will include weight and height measurements and blood, stool and vaginal swab collections. $25 will be provided to thank you for your time for this visit.
The second visit occurs about 2 weeks after the baby is born. At this visit, we will take baby’s length and weight measurements and assess dietary intake. A MRI exam on baby will also be conducted at this visit. To thank you for your time and effort, we provide 4 cases of diapers at this visit.
All research studies require potential participants to be screened. This is simple and conducted over the phone in 5-10 minutes. If you are interested or would like to find out if you are eligible, you can give us a call at (501) 364-3309 or 866-423-1311 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
